Made in France and played in France by 4 distinguished manouche jazz guitarists Angelo Debarre, Tchavolo Schmitt, Matcho Winterstein and Jean-Jacques Grist who wrote "Played on stage with a very good mic, or in a club without amplification, this is a guitar on which you can depend" (see http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallato ). The moustache bridge ends supplied unattached - the bridge position can be adjusted and it is best to attach the bridge ends only after you have settled on your preferred bridge position (full instructions supplied!!).
(The term "manouche" is French in origin and was used in the 1930s/40s to describe the style of jazz of which Django Reinhardt was a principal exponent; take a look at the Wikipedia articles in French and English . The term has been used as a trading name by Manouche Guitars of the UK (whose guitars we have also sold) among others but here it is being used in its original generic French sense.) The Gallato RS1939 is made in the tradition of Mario Maccaferri's 1930s luthiers. It is a very high quality reproduction of the Django Reinhardt model, developed by the French luthier Serge Gallato with and for the renowned French jazz guitarist Angel Debarre (See the article in the French Wikipedia) . In order to guarantee a faithfull reproduction, Serge Gallato and his team completely deconstructed an original Selmer-Maccaferri from 1939 (serial 452) and drew up his plans only when he had learned what made the original so special. With the RS1939 models, Serge Gallato aims to make the sound and quality of the original Selmers available to professional musicians at a very reasonable price. Great attention is paid to the detail of manufacture.
