Manouche Model Orchestre - Maccaferri Selmer style Gypsy jazz guitar - full front Probably the most authentic reproduction available anywhere of the early 1930s Maccaferri Selmer gypsy jazz guitar. This instrument is sometimes called "gypsy guitar," "guitare manouche" or even "Django guitar." Manouche guitars deliver a totally authentic Hot Club sound because they are produced by luthier and jazz guitar performer John Vickers of Manouche Guitars. With the Manouche range, John has set out to build instruments identical in all respects to the originals. From the bracing to the soundboard thicknessing to the unique bridge design to the tuners - every little detail has been studied and faithfully reproduced. I have listened to John and friends playing these guitars and can honestly say the sound of these powerful as well as subtle instruments is absolutely stunning. The Model Orchestre has a slightly arched soundboard with the unique 3-part bridge design. The angle of the tailpiece and neck make the strings exert a downward force through the bridge transferring the sound in a way analagous to a violin. This model has 12 frets to the neck-body join and is of the type typcally favoured by rythm guitarists.
All Model Orchestre are set up personally by John before shipping in the custom and stylish Manouche Hiscox case. They are supplied with a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.
