Gitane Gypsy Jazz Guitar DG-255 Selmer style jazz guitar with the Petite Bouche oval soundhole made famous by Django and well-suited to the lead instrument in a jazz combo. A replica of the oval soundhole Modele Jazz produced by Selmer after Maccaferri's departure. 14 frets to the body with a slotted headstock. The gitane DG-255 is a faithful recreation of the Selmer-style jazz guitar that replaced the original Maccaferri design of the early 1930's. The soundhole gives the guitar it's characteristic snap - percussive and focused sound.
The "Gitane guitar bears testament to the high quality of contemporary Chinese products. Staying close to the original blueprint, it plays well, sounds good and best of all retails for under £500. It's without doubt the best bang for buck here." Guitar Buyer Selmer-Style Guitar Roundup, Issue 38 October 2004. We suggest you buy the very well-fitting and robust hard case that is available for this guitar.
