Bridge Bone Beads - Instructions

Rosette Guitar Products

These notes are written by Rosette Guitar Products and are included with each set of BridgeBoneBeads

Handmade three-hole BridgeBoneBeads - An enhancement in guitar performance.

Precision drilled BridgeBoneBeads are hand-carved indigenous bone. Each bead is individual and different, but great care is taken to strive for uniformity in size and shape. The slight difference from bead to bead is normal, and adds to the unique design. If handled properly, they should last for the life of your instrument.

  • ? All the beads in your kit have a white side that was flattened to allow more clearance between the BridgeBoneBead and the soundboard. This will face the soundboard, so when it is properly used, it will be hidden from view.
  • ? For ease of tying heavy bass strings, it is recommended that you have a small needle nose plier to help pull your tie tight. A nail clipper will help trim excess string if desired.

Tie Procedure

Large Hole Beads are used on thicker strings (3, 4, 5 and 6.) Small hole beads are used for strings 1 and 2.
  1. Begin by threading the long hole, leaving about four inches of string to thread the side holes.
  2. Now push the string through the top side hole and loosely thread it back through the bottom side hole. (Fig. A) The final threading step involves bringing the string end through the first top loop (Fig B). NOTE: The 6th string only requires Fig. A tie pattern, but for uniform appearance, you may wish to do them all the same.
  3. After threading the BridgeBoneBead, pull the string tight. You might need to help the bass strings with your needle nose pliers. Now push the open end string through the back of the bridge and you are ready to connect the string to the rollers as you normally do.

Important! – Once the string begins to pull tight, simply reposition the BridgeBoneBead with the white side down, then grab the BridgeBoneBead and gently pull up a little to make sure the bead is positioned as far away from the soundboard as possible. This assures that no contact marks are made on the soundboard. A nail clipper can be used to neatly trim excess string on the end of the BridgeBoneBead.
